Please do your best to arrive early to ensure you and your student get the most out of their experience.
Pre-season rental fittings are available on December 16, 2023 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and December 20, 2023 from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
Additional fittings may be available before January 2, 2024 depending on the operational status of Blue Hills Ski Area. Pre-fittings take time and are strongly recommended in order to make the most of your scheduled lesson.
Levels & Grouping:
All participants will complete a pre-level assessment. This may be completed during the pre-season rental fitting with help from our snowsports team, remotely via online form, or verbally with a snowsports team member prior to the start of lessons.
Participants will be pre-leveled into 4 groups, White, Green&White, Green, and Blue based on skill level. Corresponding colored flags will be used to mark the locations where participants will meet their instructors and group each week. On the first program day, instructors will assess students in each larger color group to build smaller groups of similar age and stage of skill development.
The Snow Puppy Program (ages 4-6) will be conducted on surface lifts only. Blue Hills Ski Area has three Magic Carpet surface lifts offering a variety of terrain for learning. If a child has intermediate or advanced experience at this age level, the Snowsports School encourages scheduled private lessons for the best experience. The Junior Program may be conducted on any available terrain, including Blue Hills Ski Area’s three Magic Carpet surface lifts and/or double chairlift. As a matter of safety, use of any and all lifts or terrain during a group lesson is at the discretion of Blue Hills Staff.
Terrain choice is incredibly important when learning and developing skills. Blue Hills Ski Area Snowsports Team will choose appropriate terrain when teaching for safety, skill development, and enjoyment. Skills that would allow your child to ski with confidence on the most difficult mountain terrain can be introduced, explored, and developed on our surface lift accessed terrain.
Blue Hills Ski Area will make a best effort to ensure instructor consistency; however, we reserve the right to assign all or part of a lesson to an alternate instructor at our discretion (e.g. instances of instructor absence/student ability/class size, etc.)
Lesson availability is limited to what you see in the online calendar. Availability is updated often. Please check back periodically to see if your desired lesson is available. Please do not purchase a snowboard lesson if you are trying to purchase a ski lesson and vice versa. Please note that any changes made to your booking once it is reserved and paid are subject to re-booking policies. Changes greatly affect the schedules of our instructors.
Payment is required in full online upon reservation. Up to two days (48h hours) prior to the lesson reservation, lessons may be canceled for a 100% refund or 100% credit for the 22-23 season. No refunds will be offered after this period. Up to 1 day (24 hours) prior to the lesson reservation, lessons may be canceled for a 100% credit. This credit is valid for the 22-23 season. Within 24 hours of your reservation, lessons may be re-booked for an additional 20% of the original charge. Re-booking is subject to instructor and lesson availability. We offer 100% refund due to illness or injury with documentation from a medical professional.
All credits are issued in the form of a smart voucher on your online account for the monetary value of the product canceled. Smart vouchers can be redeemed for any online product.

If you are late to your lesson you will have the option to take the lesson for the time remaining until your scheduled finish time or re-book. Re-booking is subject to instructor and lesson availability and 20% of your original charge will be added. There will be no refunds issued.
